Three Engagements, Each with a Written Deliverable

Technology Risk Posture Conversation
01 — Posture Review

Technology Risk Posture Conversation

A short advisory engagement that places the organisation's technology risk posture onto a single readable page. We catalogue principal exposures — operational, regulatory, vendor, security, talent — and weigh each against the controls in place.

  • Written posture note, not a register
  • Suitable for board risk committee preparation
  • Plain prose, no scoring theatre
RM 945 Enquire
Technology Governance Advisory
02 — Governance Review

Technology Governance Advisory

A longer engagement examining your organisation's technology governance customs — committee structure, approval processes for material change, executive-to-board relationships, and the small documentation habits that record decisions.

  • Written governance review with sequenced recommendations
  • Suited for regulatory review preparation
  • Deliberate governance uplift focus
RM 2,820 Enquire
Risk Committee Workshop
03 — Committee Workshop

Risk Committee Workshop

A two-day workshop for executives and board members attending a technology risk committee. We examine the customs of the committee — the agenda, supporting papers, manner of presenting risk, and rhythm of decision-making — and write practical refinements together.

  • Written committee handbook for the chair
  • Refines existing customs, not wholesale framework replacement
  • Two full days, board and executive attendance
RM 1,290 Enquire

— Why Layar Consult

What Distinguishes Careful Advisory from Routine Consulting

Written Outputs, Always

Every engagement concludes with a document the board can carry into its next meeting — not a slide deck designed to impress, but a written note designed to inform.

Counsel Perspective

Our advisers approach technology risk as senior counsel, not as vendors. We name the exposures plainly, note the controls with candour, and leave the organisation better placed to decide.

Regulatory Familiarity

We are familiar with the expectations of Malaysian regulatory bodies — BNM, SC, SSM — and write with those expectations present rather than discovered after the fact.

Focused Scope

Each engagement has a defined beginning and a defined end. We do not create dependency or extend scope without a fresh conversation.

Board-Level Fluency

We write for directors and audit committee members who are accountable for what they oversee. The language is measured to that audience, not to a technical reader.

No Conflict of Interest

We do not sell software, infrastructure or implementation services. Our sole interest is that the organisation understands its position clearly.

— A Word Before We Begin

Is Your Board Adequately Briefed on Technology Exposure?

Many boards receive technology reports that are detailed but not readable. We can help place the substance of those reports into a form the oversight function actually needs. A short preliminary conversation costs nothing and commits no one.

— Frequently Asked

Matters Often Raised Before Engagement

What kind of organisations do you typically advise?
We work with boards, audit committees and executive leadership teams in Malaysian organisations across financial services, professional services, infrastructure and regulated industries. Our engagements are well suited to organisations that have grown their technology footprint faster than their governance customs have followed, or that are preparing for a regulatory or listing review.
How long does an engagement take?
The Technology Risk Posture Conversation typically concludes within two to three weeks from the opening discussion. The Technology Governance Advisory runs over four to six weeks depending on the number of interviews and documents under review. The Risk Committee Workshop is a fixed two-day engagement, scheduled at the organisation's convenience after an initial scoping call.
What is the form of the final deliverable?
Every engagement produces a written document — a posture note, a governance review, or a committee handbook as the case may be. These are written in considered prose, not template slides. They are designed to be read by a non-technical director and to remain useful six months after delivery.
Do you implement the recommendations you make?
No. Our work is advisory. We do not sell or implement technology, and we do not offer managed services. This preserves the independence of the advice. Where implementation counsel is needed, we can suggest independent specialists whose interests do not conflict with an honest assessment.
What information do you need to begin?
Very little at the outset. A brief exchange about the organisation's sector, its approximate technology footprint, and the nature of the oversight concern is usually enough to determine whether an engagement would be of value. No documents need to be shared before the opening conversation.
Are your fees fixed or variable?
The fees listed on this page — RM 945, RM 2,820 and RM 1,290 — are the fixed engagement fees for the standard scope of each service. Where an organisation requires a materially different scope, we discuss that before any engagement commences. There are no hidden supplementary charges.
